This audio production is intended to introduce new technologies that impact our lives, like digital assets, central bank digital currencies and artificial intelligence in an easy to understand way to a larger audience.

This episode examines discuss central bank digital currencies (CBDCs) with a focus on privacy concerns and how we can provide solutions that come closest to the anonymity of cash while complying with all laws and regulations. The discussion details the BIS’s Project Tourbillon, including the two prototypes, eCash 1.0 and eCash 2.0, designed to maintain payer anonymity similar to cash transactions. It then introduces a much further advanced solution GNU Taler that is also open source and touches on quantum computing.

The goal is to bring this important subject closer to the listeners, in an attempt to explain what CBDCs are, how they can be realised technically and how their designs will influence our society.
